LIFELONG LIVING, LIFELONG GATHERING
Type: lifelong living renovation
Location: Bierbeek
Status: completed 2016
Photographer: Anne-Sophie Rouffaert
A couple whose children have left the house asked us to provide their home for the future. Sufficient space had to be created so that the children and their families could come over and stay for holidays. With the extra space on the ground floor we outfit the house for lifelong living, so that the couple could eventually move entirely to the ground floor. The new volume is refined in its architectural detail referencing modern architecture with sufficient connection to the volume of the existing villa. The gable roof is felt in the space. The play of walls and openings offers a variety of open, light places and more intimate zones.
